Bluebirds

So once the "big" blizzard of April rolled out of town on the 19th, the snow started to melt and we found flowing streams where we usually see just dried out riverbeds. Upon returning from running the dog, Cindy informed me that along with the water flows, there were many bluebirds enjoying the warmer conditions. So for about 40 minutes I wandered along a 40 yard stretch and took over 140 pictures; over 100 of them were of just bluebirds. Once they got used to me being around, they weren't opposed to flying within a few yards of me and posing. At one point I actually thought I was going to become a perching post for one of them!

Before I even got to the bluebirds, I did get this shot of a meadowlark singing happily...

April Snow

A few random pictures from the past month or so…

Highline Canal just west of the Goodson Recreation Center.

Silhouetted kestrel in the back yard.

Rainy conditions the night before the snow.

Friday afternoon commute conditions.

Friday night neighborhood trees.

Saturday morning shoveling results.

Nearby snowy scenes.

South Platte Park birds.

Little did I know that this bluebird would be a preview of what was to come the next day...
